Ulla Johnson just gets us. Katie the other day told me she didn’t know about Ulla Johnson when she started at The Hive but now she doesn’t know how she could get dressed without it. It is just that good.
Ulla Johnson started her line in 2000 with $5,000 and 5 pieces. She has slowly, quietly and organically grown the company into what it is today. She doesn’t want to be everywhere, she wants to maintain what is special about her clothes. Seventeen years later she has expanded into shoes and handbags and doesn’t plan on stopping there.
Eighty percent of her clothing is made in Peru or India. The meticulous construction and commitment to making things by hand, with artisan talent, are the cornerstones of her business.
If you tried to describe her you could maybe say “beach bum chic” or sophisticated casual. However you describe it, for some reason when you put it on you just feel elevated. Simple and elegant, this line makes getting dressed easy and her fall 2017 is our favorite delivery yet.
