Elizabeth Todd thought she would write about fashion for a national glossy after earning a degree in magazine journalism from Ohio University. Instead, she found herself building one of the most highly regarded fashion boutiques in the Washington, DC region.
Starting with The Shoe Hive in a closet-sized space in 2003, Todd steadily grew her business and developed a carefully curated point of view across footwear, accessories, and ready-to-wear. Today, The Hive brings it all together under one roof on Cameron Street in Old Town Alexandria.
Known for a confidently classic style with an eye toward what’s next, Todd does all of her own buying and has built a loyal clientele both locally and online. Routinely recognized by the fashion press for her spot-on collections, she has earned a following of discerning customers who look forward to her latest discoveries each season.
Elizabeth lives in Alexandria with her husband, Bradley, their two teenage children, and two very cute Boston Terriers, Bonnie and Clyde. When she’s not at the store, she can often be found watching her kids play baseball and softball. Born and raised in Cincinnati and Columbus, she loves all things Ohio — especially the Cincinnati Bengals.
